Ok....so the highlights which I missed posting.
Lets start with the main one: We had a freaking snow storm TWICE on the east coast. One on Friday the 5th to the 6th, that dumped tons of snow (upwards of 26 inches) and just as we were all trying to dig ourselves out, Tuesday the 9th to the 10th, added an additional 10-20 inches. Needless to say, the roads were (and some still are ) a mess. People couldn't go to work, children were out of school for a week (except us....that would never happen. Although we did get Wednesday off & managed to get our infectious disease exam rescheduled to tomorrow due to a 12pm start on Thursday. Something, right?). Anywho, digging out of that crap was a P.A.I.N.I'm sooooo over snow. Unfortunately, we're supposed to get more tonight and tomorrow. Joy..... We've supposedly broken the season record over here in the Philly area and the same has been reported in my DMV hometown. With the constant pile up, we're sure to still seeing the remnants of this snow in June lol.
On to more positive things: I worked out everyday (except Sunday, my rest day) last week. Yay!!! My issue has usually been with establishing a routine. But as of last week, I've been sleeping anywhere between 930-11pm and waking up between 5-630am. I have a more productive day this way and can manage to get my bible readings and workouts in as soon as I wake up. (Maybe I can carve out more blogging time too? Hmm...we'll see.) I really want to keep up with this, mainly for health purposes. People usually equate being slim with not needing to workout. False. Exercise does more than help you lose weight (which I'm NOT trying to do). It helps to increase circulation (which can help the appearance of your skin, hair growth, & your body fight infections ), decrease the risk of cardiac diseases & diabetes (both which run in my family), increase your energy, help maintain a positive mood, & decrease stress levels through the release of "feel good" hormones (endorphins), aid in better sleep ( I just realized that I had no insomnia sleep issues all last week!yay!), and so much more. So, when you are struggling to exercise or frustrating about not getting the physical benefits soon enough (this part takes some time), remember all of the other benefits that you are getting from exercise!
My schedule as of now: 30 min cardio 3 times a week & Total body Muscle/Strength & Flexibility training 3x Week. Keeping it simple.
Tip: Check out Youtube, ExerciseTV.com, and Comcast On demand (under exercise & fitness) for a broad range of workouts that you can do from home.
Valentine's Day: My weekend was spent studying (what's new right?) and in a pretty blah mood. Then on Vday, I was in an even more blah mood, as I spent it alone & still studying, since my BF couldn't fly out due to time constraints & exams :-(. But, I was pleasantly surprised when the delivery guy knocked on my door with a bouquet of flowers w/ a very sweet message from him. That little gesture cheered me up & lifted my spirits for the rest of the day:-) I really do love him.
Later in the evening, two of my friends and I had a delicious dinner (prepared by my friend) of seafood alfredo & salad with a glass of apple cider (2 of the 3 of us don't drink lol). It was nice spending Vday aka "The Day of Love" with friends who I love! And just in case you all didn't know, I love you all too!!
'Tis all for now!
